Here’s the buzz I’m hearing from producers and in-house teams, and how to get more from your next project going into the fall and winter season.
1) Lead with performance; use AI for speed. Brand-critical work still casts humans first.
AI shines as an accelerator: scratch reads, quick alt versions, internal cuts, and faster localization. The winning combo is a seasoned voice actor plus AI tools to move faster without losing nuance.
2) Consent and disclosure aren’t optional. If a project uses a voice clone or synthetic elements, buyers expect simple, written consent and transparent notes in the files and paperwork. It protects brands, talent, and timelines.
3) Ask for “authorized voice” proof. Enterprise teams want verifiable, licensed AI voices.
If you’re tapping a library or a clone, confirm the voice is authorized and the usage is documented.
4) Budgets are tighter, KPIs are sharper. Procurement favors time-boxed licenses and platform-specific rights. Two terms to lock in up front:
Buyout = use across all media platforms for a defined duration (commonly 1–2 years).
In-Perpetuity = use forever on one specified platform (e.g., web). Other platforms require separate fees.
5) Audio is a growth channel. Expect more podcast, digital audio, and video-podcast briefs. Plan for A/B tests with quick pick-ups and alt CTAs.
6) Localization is surging. Teams need more languages, faster. A practical path: record a flagship human performance, then use AI (with consent) to accelerate regional versions while preserving tone.
How to brief in today’s market (fast checklist):
State the outcome (brand lift, conversions, comprehension).
List platforms and term; choose Buyout (time-boxed) or In-Perpetuity (one platform).
Be explicit about any AI use and get consent in writing.
Plan for testing: ask for alts and short pick-ups.
Flag priority languages early.
Put it all together: authentic read + transparent rights + smart, ethical AI = faster delivery, fewer surprises, and performance you can measure.
